Death is Not Defeat

my fear leads me to read

the Tennessee Williams poem,

We Have Not Long to Love

the stakes are 

as high

as Heaven

every poem,

every moment

counts

though death is not defeat

and I am not budging, 

we carry these things with us

into whatever's next.
