Geezer's Paradox

Standing in the kitchen,
eating bacon and watching
comedy reels on Instagram,
indifferent to the entire world
just for a fine gone moment.

For one brief moment,
I didn't care about anything:
politics, parenting, poetry,
people, my purpose, pretending,
plantar fasciitis or cancer. 

You don't become cooler with age,
but you do care progressively less
about being cool,
which is the only true way
of being cool. 

In the still minutes
of pure distraction,
where absent-minded mindfulness
meets zen-like laughter,
and everything becomes...
