all over their legs
with no idea how they got them.
I was at a party,
talking to a gorgeous woman,
and when she walked away
my friends gave big eyes,
described her as a dancer,
but when I asked why
they alluded to her being flexible
and energetic.
This does nothing for me,
I say,
I'd rather they describe her
as lazy,
lethargic,
likes to watch shows,
wakes up already thinking about dinner.
She was wearing
a stunning red dress,
and when she came back,
she touched my arm,
and so I told her
the most intimate thing
I could think of,
which was "I wanna know
what you look like
right when you wake up."
Taking this as an allusion to sex,
she pulled her hand from my arm,
but I assured her
this had nothing to do with sex,
but everything to do with morning breath,
vulnerability and realness.
I looked at her legs,
and asked how she got
that big bruise on her shin,
and she said she had no idea.
