I scoured another crowd hoping to catch a glimpse of you

missing someone comes in waves...

one minute you feel okay without them,
and the next moment you crave them.

memories blind us from truth,
and the truth blinds us from memories.

it is an ouroboros, with each scale
an inside joke or the most hurt you've ever felt.

it is important to acknowledge missing someone,
whether it is distance or death.

find meaning from it,
a sign that they were needed then and there.

find comfort in the sadness,
write a letter (or a poem) to them but keep it to yourself.

know they were only meant to be with you
for a few chapters.

how do you get over missing someone?
you don't.
