Swear to God

Was at my boss’ apartment
Talking shop and talking shit
When I pensively looked out her window
And saw you stretching
In the greens across the street.

I flipped and ducked
And she was like what the fuck
And then I told her everything
But when I poked my head up
You were gone
In the Brooklyn beyond.

That night I was on edge
As we met other coworkers
But I kept looking at the door
Wondering if you’d walk in
But happy that if you did
I was with a tall, stunning blonde.

We ended up hooking up
(She said heartbreak is sexy)
But every chance I got
I looked out her window
To see if you were there
But you were never there.

The next morning,
Walking through Cobble Hill park
Towards the Bergen Street G train,
My head was on a swivel,
Looking for you stretching in a gym halter.
