it's gonna be a long summer,
filled with jets and bets,
ladies with big hair
sitting in lounge chairs
with those tanning reflectors.
no sports, so it's knives and hammers,
danger to passersby,
fajita Fridays, while Zooming
friends on their birthdays,
and asking how they are,
while knowing the answer.
we need a plot,
and a pool montage
to get us through
to November,
and soundtrack super grooves
for packing, just in case.
I hate silence, too,
but it's probably what's best for us,
like sunscreen and a lifeguard on duty,
just to tone down the splashing,
the booze and the bikes out back.
it's a lot,
so don't forget your rollerskates,
because I have no idea
what year it is anymore,
unless I look at your Facebook status
before going outside with a mask and gloves.
