Worry Where Wonder Is

I just poured my last whiskey of the night,
reading Annie Dillard, but too drunk to absorb,
so I am switching to watching the moon.

listening to Cady Wire,
and texting a new girl about it.

Also, here's a rainbow about me,
which reminds me
I am an almost perfect blend
of other people.

the mirror does something similar,
so I simply rely on rain I autumn.

I read Donald Hall poems
and contemplate the possibility
that if her and I lived close
we'd be best friends
instead of lovers.
