someone has laughed, someone now believes in love

accustomed to the hues of time
as it eats itself each day,
one can only hope for brief smiles,
especially throughout a shift
that digs into the predatory tick of the clock.

with just a curl of the lips,
power is puckered on one side
or the other or both sides
in an addictive dance of facial muscles
which has a tidal affect on the day and others.

there is not much science behind this phenomenon
of humor and the reaction of joy with sound
and a display of grace as presented by a grin
or even a smirk when love is leftover from memories,
yet you smile others smile for their own different, vast reasons.

even when the sun doesn't shine,
a silly little chuckle can change the world,
because the world is relative. dependent on the eyes
from which the world is seen,

don't forget that you could be
walking down the street, anywhere,
and suddenly think of something funny or lovely,
crack a smile and someone walking past you
will be forever changed because he or she noticed your happiness.
