The Benefits of Looking Up

Before I looked up,
I was looking down,
just feeling sorry for my Tuesday,
and the doldrums on the dinner menu.

Before looking up,
I was scanning left and right
at what's coming
and what's next, what's left.

Before I looked up,
I was knee deep in headache,
and heartache,
just stuck to the Earth.

Before looking up,
I was craning my neck south
for miserable and mistaken treasures
that I can put in my pockets to distract my lull.

And then I looked up,
saw some orange balloons stuck in a tree,
and thought about how it is beautiful,
but how it must've sucked to lose those balloons.
