of her chilling blue eyes

I play and say
please forgive me
before those orbs slice me in half
by midnight's surprise.

I cast my shadow and eat the past perfectly
per the sinister makeup of her nature.
I kill the day with the knife of love,
and pretend not to be seen, when seen is all I am.

Let's be birds
before birds were birds
and wake up
to an ending overplayed.

The leaves pluck the wind
and sin
just like our skin
sings.

The fiery sky
closes my eyes
like the stage.
I stay.
