Prattle

a quarter, tails up.
hats and an ashtray.
red plums, photographs, a hammer.
books and rum.
empty for a while.
me, not the rum.
the rum has been replaced.
by words and whiskey.
movie stubs, another hammer.
who needs two hammers?
I forget why I needed the first one?
a metro card and my watch.
a lighter, an empty pack of menthol cigarettes.
a necklace with a key on it.
a necklace with a seahorse on it.
receipts, long loose hairs.
lots and lots and lots of notes.
an empty picture frame.
hoping for hunger to take me away.
but on this october night in october.
rain has turned to snow.
the keyboard has left.
the guitar flew to town.
I look like a desk.
and I feel like an airport.
